Kia Motors Corporation entered its sixth consecutive year as the major sponsor of the Australian Open grand slam tennis tournament.
The Australian Open was the first Grand Slam of the 2007 tennis calendar and saw many of the world's top players competing for a total prize pool of $15.3 million. Kia Motors' partnership with the Australian Open has evolved over the years and this year's tournament was further enhanced by the fourth annual Kia Amateur Australian Open World Final as well as the new Kia Fan of the Day promotion.
Along with the Australian Open, Kia Motors has signed the world's number-2 ranked men's professional tennis player, Rafael Nadal, as its global brand ambassador until 2008.
Kia Motors Corporation is, continuing its support of all things football by becoming an official global sponsor of the upcoming UEFA European Football ChampionshipTM, or 'UEFA EURO 2008TM -the largest football event in Europe.
The partnership broadens Kia's long-term partnership with football, which started with the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan and now includes official partnerships with FIFA until 2014, including the FIFA World Youth Championships, FIFA Women's World Cups, as well as new FIFA competitions, including the FIFA Interactive World Cups and FIFA Beach Football World Cups.
Kia Motors Corporation has been an international sponsor and the Official Car of the Davis Cup since 2003. Kia is set to continue it's partnership with the Davis Cup in 2007 and 2008.
The Davis Cup is the largest annual international team competition in sport, with 133 nations entered in 2006.
