In 2011, Kia Motors established an enterprise-wide global social outreach program, which features both domestic and overseas initiatives. Kia's global social outreach program will focus on particular areas of need, in order to make a real difference.
Social Outreach Value System
Fulfilling social responsibilities by embracing new challenges, in order to contribute to making a better world.
Global Social Outreach Scheme
Previously, social outreach activities were carried out individually by Kia’s corporate headquarters and regional work-sites around the world. In 2011, they were brought together through the establishment of a global social outreach initiative. In order to accomplish the mission of 'fulfilling corporate social responsibility and embracing new challenges that contribute to making a better world,' we designated mobility, and challenge, as the key principles. From this, diversity, self-realization and equal opportunity formed as values we must share as an organisation. The principle of 'mobility' stands for our desire as a car manufacturer to realise universal mobility, while the principle of 'challenge' represents our can-do attitude as a brand.
Global Social Outreach Blueprint
Kia Motor’s social outreach includes programs aimed at realising universal mobility, local programs designed to resolve specific local issues, and other annual programs. All social outreach programs will be founded with employee participation, moving beyond mere giving, to embodying genuine engagement. The global programs will be aimed at enhancing the mobility of those individuals and communities that are transportation-disadvantaged. In 2012, pilot programs will be launched in Korea and Africa by Kia’s headquarters. Starting in 2013, five Kia headquarters (Kia Motors America, Kia Motors Europe, Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Slovakia & China) will join this global undertaking, and by 2015, all regional offices and main dealerships will be involved in Kia’s global programs.
'Green Light Project' is the title of Kia’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program, which shows Kia’s willingness to turn-off the red light of despair that constraints growth, and blocks challenge.
The Green Light Logo will play the role of notifying the fulfillment of our commitment to a program, and the continual expansion of it.
Kia Motors supports the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The eight MDGs are listed below with corresponding icons. Each of Kia Motors’ social outreach activities are marked with relevant icon(s) to indicate which MDG(s) it is helping to achieve.
