20 per cent jump keeps KMAu ahead of the market.
A massive 20 per cent jump in sales has launched Kia Motors Australia into record territory, finishing 2015 with 33,736 cars finding new homes.
In a record Australian market of 1.15 million new car sales, Kia has eclipsed the company’s previous best performance of 30,758 in 2012.
"This is an outstanding result, and a testament to a year of hard work and focus from our entire organization," KMAu Chief Operating Officer, Damien Meredith, said.
"Brilliant product, an industry-leading 7-Year Warranty, rapidly improving customer and dealer satisfaction have all contributed to what is an extremely pleasing outcome."
Mr Meredith pointed to the breadth of sales across Kia's range of models as one of the keys to the growth of the brand.
"Kia is no longer a one- or two-car company … the wider range of models that are growing sales is a clear indication of the improved perception of Kia's style, engineering and value by the new car shopper."
The top selling Kia model last year was the Cerato small sedan with 10,392 sales, a jump of 44 per cent over the previous year. Second on the popularity list was the Sportage compact SUV with 7578 sales, followed by the Rio with 7096.
Carnival, the new model of which was launched in February, regained dominance of the people mover segment with 3638 sales and a slew of awards pushed the Sorento large SUV numbers up to 3202.
Mr Meredith said that as successful as 2015 was, the focus would now shift firmly to the coming year to continue to build the Kia brand in Australia.
"With the momentum of award-winning cars and exciting new models like the all-new Sportage, the micro Picanto and the improved Cerato we see 2016 as a tremendous opportunity to continue to build the brand," Mr Meredith said.
